MDC Offers Fun and Interesting Summer Camps for Kids and Teens
Miami, May 12, 2010 -
Whether it’s recording music, hitting a homerun, improving reading skills, or performing in a play, parents will find dozens of unique summer camps for children of all ages at Miami Dade College (MDC) campuses throughout the county.
Below are some of MDC’s 2010 Summer Camps:
Baseball Camp at the Homestead Campus
Children ages 5 to 12 can learn about teamwork and get plenty of exercise, while honing their batting skills. Campers will practice their stance, swing and pitching. Cost for the camp is $110. Camp offers several five-day sessions available June 14 – July 26, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Maximum of ten children per camp. For more information, please call 305-237-5159.
MDC Productions at the North Campus
Ideal for students ages 12 to 18 who have aspirations of working in the music industry. They will have the opportunity to compose, record and produce their own song, as well as choreograph a dance routine to produce a music video. The camp runs June 14 – July 2, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $255 per child. For more information, please call 305-237-1019.
Wild Things Happen Camp at Kendall Campus
Campers ages 5 to 11 will enjoy indoor and outdoor games, learning on computers, swimming, arts and crafts, and fieldtrips. Lunch and snack included. The camp is offered in weekly sessions from June 14 – August 13. Cost is $153 five days per week, or $128 for four-day week. Drop off in room G208. For more information, please call 305-237-2161.
Global Literacy Summer Camp at Wolfson Campus
Children ages 5 to 9 (Kindergarten - 2nd grade current) will gain global awareness and geography skills, computers knowledge, play indoor and outdoor games, enjoy music, dance, arts/craft, and more. Fieldtrips, lunch and snack included. The cost is $128 and runs July 6 – 9, from 7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. For more information, please call 305-237-3120.
Los Prometeitos Summer Theatre Camp
Miami’s only conservatory-style theater training school offers summer fun for children ages 7 – 12 at MDC’s Wolfson Campus. The camp, which includes singing, dancing and acting, runs June 14 – 25, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. (extended pick-up is available). The cost per child is $350. Limited availability! All the camps will allow children and students to enjoy their summer vacation in a fun and safe environment. Fees are subject to change without notice and courses may be canceled due to insufficient enrollment. MDC will be closed Friday, July 3 in observance of Independence Day.
