Exciting New Study Abroad Program at Miami Dade College, Economic Awakenings, will Take Students to China
Miami, November 16, 2010 - From South America to Europe and beyond, Miami Dade College (MDC) students are encouraged to see the world as they learn. Next spring, from May 6 to June 5, 2011, MDC will offer a dynamic study abroad program titled Economic Awakenings: China.
This program is designed for students who wish to learn about economics in the context of globalization. It begins with two seminars on campus prior to departure for Shanghai. While there, students will study macro and micro economics, visit historic sites, and participate in cultural activities. No prior experience for participation is required.
Students will reside and attend classes at the Songjiang Campus of Shanghai-Lixin University of Commerce. Economics courses (ECO 2013 and ECO 2023) will be taught in English by MDC School of Business Professor Dr. Robert Foran. Cultural seminars, from cooking to Tai Chi, will be taught by the faculty at Shanghai-Lixin. The classes are part of MDC’s Summer A, 2011 semester.
In addition to the tuition for the two three (3) credit courses, the cost of the program is $3,995 and includes all airfare, health insurance, housing, most meals, some guided tours, and ground transportation. A $500 non-refundable deposit is required. Students are encouraged to apply soon as space is limited. They must also have a GPA of 2.75 or higher to participate.
