Miami Dade College Students Again Win Big at Phi Beta Lambda’s 2011 National Competition
Miami, July 8, 2011 - Miami Dade College (MDC) students have earned an impressive track record in Phi Beta Lambda’s (PBL) state and national competitions over the years. This year, 28 MDC students from the Kendall, North and Wolfson campuses won several awards in various categories, placing them high above strong competitors from top U.S. colleges and universities at PBL’s 2011 National Competition and Leadership Conference held in Orlando last month.
In the competition, the students participated in various teams that performed tasks relevant to a business field, such as client service, fundraising, and project management. Kendall Campus’ Small Management Team has won four years in a row, and placed first in this year’s competition. The Computer Game Team from Kendall also defeated major engineering schools with its second place win this year.
“Our students continue to amaze us with their dedication and expertise,” said Barbara Rosenthal, an MDC professor of business and PBL’s faculty advisor. PBL and its four-day national conference provides a resource for students to gain leadership experience, participate in motivational general sessions, professional development and career planning workshops, and intense competitive activities.
