MDC and St. Thomas University Enter into New Academic Partnership
Miami, August 22, 2011 - Miami Dade College (MDC) and St. Thomas University have formally agreed to offer students studying supervision and management a smooth transition into a graduate-level program. This new cooperative agreement will help MDC students in its Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS-SM) Supervision and Management degree program enter St. Thomas University’s Master of Science in Management program through an automatic enrollment process, provided they meet admission criteria.
The agreement becomes official this fall, and a signing ceremony was held recently at MDC’s Wolfson Campus in downtown Miami.
Introduced in the spring of 2010 as a solution to workforce needs, MDC’s BAS-SM program is designed for students currently employed who need a bachelor’s degree to increase their career opportunities and wages. Last year, the BAS-SM program had just 91 students enrolled; now, there are more than 1,800 students enrolled in the program. The BAS-SM program is offered at three MDC campuses: Kendall, North and Wolfson.
