Miami Dade College North Campus and the Carrie P. Meek Entrepreneurial Education Center to Commemorate Haitian Flag Day
Miami, May 14, 2012 - Miami Dade College’s (MDC) North Campus and the Carrie P. Meek Entrepreneurial Education Center (MEEC) will commemorate Haitian Flag Day with two special ceremonies. The MEEC Center’s will take place at 11a.m. Wednesday, May 16, and at the North Campus, at 10:30 am.Friday, May 18.
This year’s theme, Haiti Rebuilds: A Journey of Hope, conveys a sense of Haiti’s rich cultural traditions and life, and of the strength of its people. This event will be attended by MDC faculty, students, staff, local high school students, and members of the community. The program at both venues will feature a variety of educational and cultural performances.
“The Republic of Haiti is an island nation steeped in rich history, tradition and culture, and North Campus proudly joins the world in saluting all Haitian Americans on the occasion of the 2012 Haitian Flag Day,” said North Campus President Dr. Jose A. Vicente.
The North Campus event will include a keynote address by Beatrice Louissaint, an MDC alumna who is President and CEO of the Southern Florida Minority Supplier Development Council and an MDC Foundation board member, and a performance by Haitian kompa band Harmonik.
