MDC Tower Theater to Screen Fully Restored Magical Mystery Tour Film
The Tower Theater will screen the fully restored Beatles' film, Magical Mystery Tour, on Oct. 2 and 6.
Miami, September 25, 2012 - Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Tower Theater will screen The Beatles’ fully restored Magical Mystery Tour classic film for two nights only on Tuesday, Oct. 2, and Saturday, Oct. 6. The film will be released only in selected theaters and regions world-wide. The Tower Theater was among only a few venues chosen.
In September 1967, in the wake of the extraordinary impact and success of their Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album, The Beatles loaded a film crew onto a bus along with friends, family and cast and headed west on the A30 out of London to make their third film, this time conceived and directed by themselves. Based on an unscripted narrative and in the experimental mood of the time, the film became the vehicle to present six new songs: Magical Mystery Tour, The Fool on the Hill, Flying, I Am The Walrus, Blue Jay Way and Your Mother ShouldKnow.
Forty-five years later, Apple Films has fully restored the long out-of-print classic feature film with a remixed soundtrack (stereo and 5.1 surround sound) and special features. Apple & EMI have partnered with Omniverse Vision, the leading distributor of music events to cinemas world-wide, to bring exclusive showings of Magical Mystery Tour to the big screen for the first time in select cities.
MDC’s Tower Theater has been dubbed as one of the “10 great places to see a movie in splendor” by USA Today.
