Miami Dade College Board of Trustees Chair, Provost, Others Honored as a Top Hispanics in Miami
Miami, October 9, 2012 - Miami Dade College (MDC) Board of Trustees ChairHelen Aguirre Ferré and Provost Dr. Rolando Montoya were among those named as the 100 Latinos/Hispanos en Miami by Fusionarte Association, Pan-American Foundation and Poder Magazine. Lourdes Oroza, President of the Kendall Campus, Alina Interian, Executive Director of Cultural Affairs and Orlando Rojas, programmer for the Tower Theater, were also awarded this recognition, and all were honored recently at a special ceremony at the College’s Wolfson Campus.
This recognition highlights the work and career of 100 professionals who have contributed to this city's development in different fields. Their success stories will be showcased in a luxury publication to then become part of an exhibition in Miami International Airport.
More than 300 nominations were received and reviewed by the advisory board, comprised of MDC President Dr.Eduardo J. Padrón, Alberto Ibarguén, president of the Knight Foundation, Alfonso Goyenche, director of Ahorro Corporación Internacional, Elba Hentschel, executive director of the United States Mexico Chamber Of Commerce, Guillermo Lousteau, president of the InterAmerican Institute for Democracy and the Argentinian Cultural Center, Jorge Plasencia, MDC alumnus and president and director of República, José Abreu, MDC alumnus and director of Miami International Airport , Maurice Ferré, former mayor of Miami and Susan Kaufman, director of the Center for Hemispheric Policy at the University of Miami.
100 Latinos/Hispanos en Miami was created by Fusionarte Association, an organization committed to its deep belief that art and culture are two powerful tools that foster people's total development. It promotes immigrant integration and development in Latin American through cultural and artistic projects and various publications.
