Miami Dade College Medical Campus to Host Free Annual Community Health Fair Feb. 23
Miami, December 19, 2012 - Miami Dade College’s(MDC) Medical Campus is hosting its popular 8th Annual Free Community Health Fair at 9 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 23. Services being offered at the fair include bone density screening, glucose and cholesterol tests, a limited number of free mammograms, and dental and vision screenings. There will also be information on nutrition, heart disease and cancer prevention; a blood drive and much more. The MDC Health Fair is free and open to the public.
A “Stress Relief Zone” will include free chair massages and other services, as well as on-site pharmacists from the Florida Pharmacy Association providing medical information. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will also be on site to answer questions.
In addition to medical services and screenings, there will also be a Children’s Corner with face painting, balloons, a bounce house, arts and crafts and more.
The fair’s main goal is to provide health information and services to those who might not otherwise get regular medical attention.
“This year’s fair provides an opportunity to improve our community’s health and develop new strategies that will impact lives in a positive manner,” said Dr. Armando Ferrer, president, MDC Medical Campus.
This free community health fair is made possible through the continued support of its sponsors: Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Care Access, Humana, Aetna, and Florida Pharmacy Association.
