Glenda Phipps Recently Elected Dade County Library Association President

Miami, April 8, 2013 - Miami Dade College (MDC) is proud to announce that Glenda Phipps has been elected as President of the Dade County Library Association (DCLA).   Phipps, the Learning Resources Director of the Hialeah Campus, will have among her chief duties to build the online recognition of the organization begun by her predecessor, Ellen Book, as well as to encourage broader participation of library professionals at every level, not simply librarians.

Glenda Phipps started her career at MDC ten years ago as a faculty member.  She holds two masters degrees from City College of New York.  She taught reading and writing at the pre-college and college level in Manhattan, before relocating to South Florida.  Phipps stumbled upon a career in the library field haphazardly.  She decided to take some courses to learn about the Internet in early 2001.  That knowledge has served her well.  Today, she carefully sculpts the educational landscape with newfound information, both inside and outside the classroom.

Glenda Phipps was elected President of the DCLA in 2012 after being Vice-President, 2010-2012.
