Miami Dade College to Host Constitution Day Celebration at its Freedom Tower Sept. 17

Miami, August 19, 2013 - Miami Dade College (MDC) will commemorate the 226th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution at a celebration at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 17, at its National Historic Landmark Freedom Tower.

College President Dr. Eduardo J. Padrón will deliver opening remarks in the fitting, iconic venue. Judges, elected officials, attorneys, military veterans, and other prominent community leaders will read sections of the Constitution during the historic event.

Constitution Day (or Citizenship Day) is a federal observance recognizing this country’s citizens as well as the day the U.S. Constitutional Convention signed the Constitution in 1787. The observance also honors the rights and liberties granted and protected by the nation’s supreme law.
