MDC's Iconic Freedom Tower
Miami, September 23, 2013 -
Miami Dade College’s(MDC) National Historic Landmark Freedom Tower will be bathed in pink light to commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness. The special illumination ceremony, in its fourth consecutive year, will take place at
7 p.m., Monday, Sept. 30, on the steps of the Freedom Tower.
The event – co-sponsored by the Susan G. Komen Foundation Miami/Ft. Lauderdale Affiliate - will include remarks by representatives from that organization and other guest speakers, who will raise awareness about this deadly disease that, according to the Foundation, claims a life every 74 seconds.
“MDC is proud to partner once again with the Susan G. Komen Foundation to commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness and to get the word out about the need for prevention and early detection. We’re proud to be a beacon of hope and to be able to continue to empower and enlighten millions of women and men of all ages,” said Dr. José A. Vicente, Wolfson Campus President.
