Celebrate Miami Book Fair International with a Day at The Park
Miami, November 5, 2013 -
Come every fall, Miami Dade College(MDC) transforms itself into the literary world's most quintessential destination with the arrival of the Miami Book Fair International. This year, the Fair turns 30, and as in years past, hundreds of thousands of people are expected to fill the environs of the Wolfson Campus for a host of events and insightful author presentations, while canvassing the expansive Street Fair with more than 200 exhibitors.
The eight-day event will feature some of the country’s most celebrated authors and an array of stage performances and cooking demonstrations, among a myriad of other happenings. This year’s program also includes The Park, where you can rest, rejuvenate, ruminate, and read! Sponsored by the Miami Foundation, through its Our Miami Initiative, a philanthropic organization dedicated to fostering a stronger sense of community for all Miami residents, The Park is your ultimate urban oasis during the Fair.
“Our Miami encourages residents to connect with each other and with our city,” said Javier Alberto Soto, president and CEO of The Miami Foundation. “Urban green spaces like The Park are perfect for sparking these relationships. Miami becomes a more pleasant and attractive place to live when we create opportunities to engage in this way.”
Tap in or tune out just steps away from the bustle of the Street Fair at this family-oriented setting which will include recreational activities like volleyball, soccer, yoga, Zumba, an obstacle course — and even a drum circle! This pop-up park is also the perfect place to sprawl out on the grass with a good book.
Join your fellow Fairgoers for a glorious day at The Park!
