Former Top Rebounder Cera Ledbetter to Join Miami Dade College Lady Sharks Women’s Basketball Team


Miami, February 20, 2014 - Miami Dade College (MDC) freshman Cera Ledbetter has joined the extraordinary talent of the Lady Sharks basketball team. Ledbetter came to MDC as a transfer student from Central Arizona College and as a former high school Top Rebounder (2012-2013), who also made the All-Tournament team in 2013, 1st team All- State, All Conference team, and received the Dan Schlekway Award in 2011 and 2012.

“Cera Ledbetter is a welcome addition to the Shark Nation,” said Susan Summons, Lady Sharks head coach. “She is extremely talented, and I see her as one of the premier post players in the country. Cera will hopefully lead this program to the NJCAA National Championship Tournament. She is a tremendous person with great work ethic, vision and extremely goal oriented.”

A native of Sioux Falls, SD, Ledbetter is one of eight siblings. Since moving down to Miami, she’s been working hard in the classroom and on the court to stay in shape and continue with her rehabilitation from knee surgery, so she can have a strong attack next season.

“I love being down here,” says Ledbetter. “I really like the coach, the housing and the school. I am looking forward to getting a national title next season and transferring out to a major division 1 program after getting my degree from MDC.”Miami Dade College (MDC) freshman Cera Ledbetter has joined the extraordinary talent of the Lady Sharks basketball team.
