Tanya Thompson among Students Who Will Receive Chef's Coat

Miami, February 3, 2014 - The latest class of students at Miami Dade College’s (MDC) state-of-the-art and environment-friendly Miami Culinary Institute (MCI) will get their chef’s coat at a ceremony at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 4, at the Wolfson Campus in downtown Miami. The 50 chefs-to-be will be working toward an Associate in Science (A.S.) in Culinary Arts Management with the hopes of becoming part of Miami’s dynamic gastronomic scene. The event marks their official welcome to the MCI.

Among those students who will don a chef’s coat will be Tanya Thompson, who embarked on a culinary career with a Work Readiness Training Seminar offered by MCI. She began by joining the Basic Culinary Skills Training Program and was hired to work in the Institute’s Café. Today, she creates the appetizing and mouth-watering soups sold there.
