Miami Dade College to Host 3rd Annual PhilanthroFest to Connect Thousands of South Floridians to Local Nonprofit Organizations and Community Agencies April 12
Free outdoor event promises day of community engagement and family-friendly fun
Miami, April 4, 2014 -
PhilanthroFest, a volunteer-based organization that connects people, passion and philanthropy through non-profit groups, will hold its 3rd Annual “PhilanthroFest”
outdoor festival, showcasing more than 100 South Florida non-profit organizations, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, April 12, at Miami Dade College’s
Wolfson Campus in downtown Miami. As the nation's largest festival of its kind, PhilanthroFest promises to be bigger and better than ever. The sprawling outdoor event is free and open to the public!
Festival attendees will enjoy a full day of art exhibitions, musical performances, demonstrations, health screenings, a green market, food trucks, and an assortment of other activities. South Florida residents can learn about nonprofit organizations representing various causes, including business and economic development; education; animal welfare; arts and cultural development; environmental issues; food, agriculture, and nutrition; civic engagement; health and disease prevention; youth activities, sports and recreation; and community improvement.
“MDC is delighted to partner with PhilanthroFest, which helps elevate the profiles of stellar organizations that, like MDC, are on the frontlines of meeting our community’s unique needs,” said Dr. José A. Vicente, president of the Wolfson Campus.
For South Florida residents looking for a chance to pay it forward, there is no opportunity like PhilanthroFest to find a nonprofit to support. And for those who may be in need of services, nonprofits and community agencies are on hand to explain who they serve, what they do and how one can qualify for such services. It has never been easier to find out the wide array of services that South Florida community agencies and local nonprofits have to offer.
“We are building a community of change makers by helping individuals identify causes they care about and make individual contributions that make a difference. PhilanthroFest is an opportunity for the community to find services or causes that align with their passions and values while providing nonprofits a platform to engage potential donors, volunteers advocates or service recipients,” said attorney Estrellita S. Sibila, executive director and co-founder of PhilanthroFest.
