Miami Dade College’s North Campus to Host Free Food Distribution Event June 20

Miami, June 9, 2014 - Miami Dade College’s(MDC) North Campus will host for a free food distribution event at 10 a.m., Friday, June 20. It is presented by State Representative Daphne Campbell and Farm Share, a non-profit organization that helps distribute food to families facing hardships and who are in need of additional assistance.  

“Food insecurity is a growing problem in many of our communities, and North Campus is pleased to join hands in worthy efforts aimed at providing fresh produce to local families,” said Malou C. Harrison, president of the North Campus.

More than 100 volunteers, including MDC students, will participate to help sort and distribute free food packages that include an assortment of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Farm Share provides an abundance of surplus food and distributes it to individuals, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, churches, and other organizations feeding the needy in Florida – free of charge. 

Food will be available on a first come first served basis while supplies last.
