Renowned Miami Dade College Chess Team places fourth in prestigious Pan American Chess Tournament

Miami Dade College’s (MDC) renowned chess team is advancing to the Final Four Chess Tournament for the sixth straight year after placing fourth at the Pan American Chess Tournament, which was hosted at the college from Dec. 26 to 30.

MDC team takes home first place honors at annual Dragon Boat Race

For the second year in a row, Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Sharks boat race team won first place in the 250 meter College-Mixed Regular Competition at the 2007 Miami Dragon Boat Club Challenge on Saturday, Dec. 8, from the docks of the Miami Rowing Club in Virginia Key.

Miami Dade College launches seven exhibitions taking place throughout the city during Art Basel 2007 and beyond

Students walk to save lives at Miami Dade College during Aids Awareness Week

More than 200 students, administrators and faculty gathered by the lake at Miami Dade College’s (MDC) North Campus on Friday, Nov. 30 to recognize World Aids Day on Dec. 1, and to participate in the College’s annual AIDS Walk to help fight an illness claiming the lives of 40,000 Americans every year.

MDC’s West Campus opens first public art gallery in Doral

Donna Lee Steffens wants to disclose family secrets. Javier Gonzalez is fascinated by the flame that ignites life. Luis García-Nerey makes tower sculptures that represent the cluster of new buildings in Miami. Together with four other Miami-based artists, they make up The Surface – Beneath and Beyond, a bold art exhibition on display at Miami Dade College’s (MDC) West Campus through Jan. 31, 2008.
