MDC's New Bachelor's Degree in Public Safety Management Approved by the State

I am very pleased to announce that the State Board of Education has unanimously approved MDC's request to offer a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Public Safety Management.

Public Safety Management is today an urgent and broad area of need in our society. MDC's program is a workforce driven and seamless approach, from the classroom to a specific and specialized realm of employment.

This program is the only one of its kind to blend civilian public safety expertise with sworn officer training. MDC is now the only institution in Florida to offer a bachelor's degree and law enforcement certification within one program, at one institution.  The program offers 10 specializations including emergency management, crime scene investigation, security, probation and parole, and law enforcement.

The program offers MDC and its graduates new opportunities to contribute to the community's safety and security. Thank you to Dr. Norma Goonen, Provost for Education, and her staff; Dr. Jose Vicente, North Campus President; Director Ron Grimming of the School of Justice; and all those who contributed to the development of this excellent program.

Thank you.

Eduardo
