MDC Welcomes Marielena Villamil, Newest Member of District Board of Trustees

I am very pleased to announce the appointment, by Governor Jeb Bush, of Marielena A. Villamil, to the Miami Dade College District Board of Trustees.

Marielena A. Villamil
Ms. Villamil brings a wealth of experience, in both public education and the private sector. She is the president and co-founder of the Washington Economics Group, an economic, financial and educational consulting firm. She has led this well-respected organization for the past 13 years and been an esteemed contributor to the South Florida community. She presently serves as commissioner for the Third District Court of Appeals.

With the arrival of Ms. Villamil, we are welcoming one of our own back to MDC. Our newest trustee served at MDC for 17 years as a professor and an associate dean.

Ms. Villamil received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and English from St. Mary's Dominican College in New Orleans, and a Master of Arts in Spanish from Middlebury College in Vermont.

Ms. Villamil's term as a trustee will span the coming three years. She replaces Ms. Denise Mincey-Mills, whose term recently expired. We thank Ms. Mincey-Mills for her exceptional service to the College, and warmly welcome Ms. Villamil.

Thank you.

Eduardo
