Remembering 9/11
It seems impossible that six years have already passed since 9/11. The feelings of that day and all that followed remain so fresh. One image on a TV screen and it all comes back. We remember because so much was lost.
But with each remembrance of 9/11, something else is possible. We carry that possibility within us, each one of us. People of every origin and culture and color, we can be a testament to 9/11, and all that is good and hopeful in our community. The level of misunderstanding in the world may seem enormous, but the willingness to understand and grant respect is a powerful remedy. We are always a beginning, a living remedy for the intolerance of our time.
9/11 proved, once again, how fragile it all is. Time is precious. We have a wonderful opportunity each day.
