Miami International Film Festival Opens Friday, March 2

Miami Dade College is proud to host the 24th annual Miami International Film Festival (MIFF), beginning Friday, March 2, with a 7:00 p.m. screening of Black Book by award-winning Dutch director Paul Verhoeven (Basic Instinct, Total Recall). Following the opening-night movie is the exclusive "Black Book/White Night/Hot Film" party at the Freedom Tower.

The 2007 Festival line-up features 112 films from 43 countries, and several well-known international stars are scheduled to attend the nine-day cinematic celebration including: Carice van Houten, Rie Rasmussen, Viggo Mortensen, Eduard Fernández, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Tristán Ulloa and Olga Guillot.

Highlights of this year's Festival include the March 7 Career Achievement Tribute to French producer/director/writer Luc Besson (La Femme Nikita, The Professional, The Fifth Element), the Awards Night Film (Ira & Abby) and Celebration on March 10, and a series of 26 workshops and panel discussions with film industry leaders from MTV Networks, HBO, Universal Pictures, DreamWorks and the Sundance Institute, to name a few.
