Update on 2007 United Way Campaign
I am writing to ask for your assistance in helping MDC reach its 2007 fundraising goal for the United Way of Miami-Dade County.
Evidence of your commitment to our community was clearly demonstrated during the 2006 MDC United Way Campaign. Working together, employees and students raised a total of $112,000 to support the United Way of Miami-Dade. These pledges represented $22,000 or 24 percent more than our goal of $90,000.
This year, we have raised $79,000 for the United Way of Miami-Dade, which is 83 percent of our $95,000 goal. I would like to thank those who have already contributed to the campaign and ask those who have not to join us by making a donation that generously supports the United Way's community plan of:
- Helping kids and families lead successful lives
- Improving health and independence
- Responding to emergency and basic needs
- Encouraging neighborhood and civic involvement

Please keep in mind that every unrestricted dollar that we contribute is matched by $2.01 by the United Way's other funding sources. For us, that means the pledges we raised last year resulted in an estimated $225,000 additional dollars for our community.
Thank you to Bettie Thompson, the leader of the College's campaign, and to our Ambassadors and Support Team members for their willingness to extend this fundraiser to Monday, April 16, in hopes of raising at least $16,000 more to reach our target. We have exceeded our goal for the last ten years, and I am confident that MDC's generosity will prevail once again.
