MDC Partners with Media Giant Televisa to Launch New Televisa Centre for Film and Television Production at MDC

Last night on the stage of the Gusman Center for the Performing Arts, I had the pleasure of announcing an innovative educational partnership that will benefit our students and the community for years to come. Grupo Televisa, the largest media company in the Spanish-speaking world, will join with MDC in developing the Televisa Centre for Film and Television Production within MDC’s School for Entertainment and Design Technology. Televisa CEO Emilio Azcárraga joined me on stage to announce a $1 million donation, including matching funds, to launch the project.

The new Centre aims to be the foremost hemispheric training and development site for all aspects of the television and entertainment industry. It will be a hub of Latin-American and Caribbean television, film and entertainment production and training, and will support the resurgence of the Mexican film industry.

Students will take part in a dynamic state-of-the-art curriculum, participate in study abroad and work exchanges and learn from established industry professionals. The Centre will also be home to a teacher training institute, an archive for Latin American film and a think tank for top professionals.

Televisa’s generosity heralds a new era in learning and entertainment technology at MDC. I thank them for their generosity and look forward to this exciting partnership.

Thank you.

Eduardo
