H1N1 vaccine availability free for MDC employees
Miami Dade College is currently working with the Miami-Dade County Health Department to offer the H1N1 vaccine for free to MDC employees and students who fall within one of the key populations listed below. The H1N1 vaccine will initially be offered only to individuals who fall within one of the key populations listed below, but may be expanded to the general public at a later date.
If you fall within one of the key populations listed below and you would like to receive the H1N1 vaccine for free at an MDC campus, please click the following link and fill out the requested information so the College can order enough H1N1 vaccines for each campus: http://CTLSilhouette.wsu.edu/surveys/ZS95765.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that H1N1 flu vaccination efforts focus on five key populations. The key populations include those who are at higher risk of disease or complications, those who are likely to come in contact with H1N1, and those who could infect young infants. The five key populations are the following:
- pregnant women,
- people who live with or care for children younger than 6 months of age,
- health care and emergency medical services personnel,
- persons between the ages of 6 months through 24 years of age, and
- people from ages 25 through 64 years who are at higher risk for H1N1 because of chronic health disorders or compromised immune systems.
The Miami-Dade County Health Department estimates that the H1N1 vaccine will be available to Miami Dade College in early November. We will send an email to all registrants with the dates and times the H1N1 vaccine will be available on each campus once that information is confirmed.
For more information on the H1N1 vaccination, please visit: http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/vaccination/public/vaccination_qa_pub.htm.
Thank you.
