Message From the President
Friday, September 11, 2009
The passage of time has not erased the mark that Sept. 11, 2001 has made on our country and world. The attitudes and divisions that gave rise to the gruesome attacks on our nation persist more than ever.
As faculty, staff and students, we have a responsibility to encourage understanding within our learning community. Miami Dade College, like all academic institutions, plays a crucial role in cultivating knowledge and tolerance -- lessons and sensibilities that must extend outside our classrooms.
In marking the eighth anniversary of one of our country’s greatest tragedies, I ask you to remember what unites us as citizens of a worldwide community. We can all be contributors to a shared dream of peace and universal understanding. This happens one by one and together we can make our campuses an example of what respect and thoughtfulness can achieve.
