MDC earns "Great Colleges to Work For” distinction for second straight year

In our 50-year history, Miami Dade College has received countless honors for our excellent academic and cultural programming and our operations. We can proudly add to that list of accomplishments today, as The Chronicle of Higher Education, for the second year in a row, named MDC to its Great Colleges to Work For program.

Joining the ranks of renowned institutions such as Georgia Institute of Technology, Georgetown University, Harvard University, University of Notre Dame and University of Southern California, MDC was recognized in three categories as part of the process. In the Work Environment category, the College was recognized for respect and appreciation. We were also recognized in the Diversity category; and for professional/career development in the Institutional Policies category.

The Chronicle's two-part assessment process consisted of an institutional audit that collected demographics and workplace policies and practices, and a survey administered to a randomly selected group of 400 to 600 administrators, adjunct and full-time faculty, and professional-support staff. More than 42,000 college employees and nearly 300 institutions nationwide participated in the application process.

The primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was the feedback collected from faculty and staff members, and I would like to thank everyone at MDC who participated in the application process. I am very proud of this distinction, especially during a time when many challenges continue in higher education. You truly make MDC a great college to work for.

Thank you.

Eduardo
