MDC achieves #1 national ranking for degrees to minority students
In his commencement address at Miami Dade College on May 1, President Clinton, peering out over a sea of graduates from around the globe, invited anyone who questioned the value of diversity in America to visit MDC.
In addition to President Clinton’s high praise, we have a new study to back up his assertion. Actually, the "Top 100 Associate Degree Producers” is a yearly study, and the results show MDC, once again, atop the national rankings. In addition to being the institution that graduates, by far, more students overall than any other, MDC leads all colleges for the number of minorities, Hispanics and African American students receiving associate degrees.
Leading the nation in awarding degrees to minorities is a great achievement. But the real story is deeper than statistics or rankings. The students who graduate from MDC establish new traditions – in their lives, in their families and throughout the community.
This is the real work of MDC, the work for which all of us can be proud.
Thank you.
