MDC honored by Congresswoman for half century of community service, academic and cultural excellence
Miami Dade College has received numerous accolades during our half-century history, but earning praise from our alumni is one of the greatest honors of all. In a statement co-sponsored by all 24 members of the Florida Congressional Delegation, MDC alumna and U.S. Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen recently introduced Congressional Resolution 1571 to honor the College's 50th anniversary.
In the Resolution, Rep. Ros-Lehtinen lauded MDC’s long history of service, academic and cultural excellence, and status as a role model to other educational institutions. "So many of our local leaders attended MDC and so many have the fondest memories of our time there," said Rep. Ros-Lehtinen. "Without a doubt, this excellent educational center is truly a cherished South Florida institution. This Resolution puts into words the feelings and emotions of everyone who attended the College. I wish the school and its wonderful faculty and students 50 more great years of education and learning.”
Many of us have witnessed the College and community grow alongside each other throughout the years, and have noted the incredible transformative power of higher education. In addition to Rep. Ros-Lehtinen and the entire Florida Congressional Delegation, the Florida House and Senate passed resolutions this year to celebrate MDC's 50th anniversary.
These resolutions are tangible proof of the hard work and dedication of our faculty, staff and students, and I would like to take this occasion to thank everyone at the College for your contributions to our continued success.
