Street Fair kicks off Friday
Dr. Eduardo J. Padrón
Eduardo J. Padrón
President

Since last Sunday, Miami Book Fair International has been creating generous buzz and entertaining the community with a plentiful schedule of literary events and educational activities. The excitement continues to build as we approach the Street Fair, which will take place this Friday through Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Hundreds of national and international exhibitors will sell books at this year's Street Fair. Please join us for the festive mix of entertainment, music, children’s activities and food, while browsing for books on Wolfson Campus. Highlights include the Children’s Alley, Comix Galaxy, Student Literary Encounters, the Idea X-Change and the Harvey Wolf Antiquarian Annex.

Please be sure to stop by the Festival of Authors this weekend, where more than 300 authors will participate in back-to-sessions. Headliners include Jonathan Franzen, C.K. Williams, Carlos Eire, Joe Sacco, Dave Eggers, Vendela Vida, Nick Zinner, Meghan McCain and Emilio Estefan.

The Book Fair’s celebration of Mexican culture and literature will continue throughout the weekend. In addition, more than 70 authors will be presenting in Spanish as part of the IberoAmerican program, including Paquito D´Rivera, Eduardo Sacheri, Alberto Fuguet, Luis Leante, Claudia Piñeiro and Pablo Simonetti.

Entry is free to all on Friday, when school children from Broward and Miami-Dade counties will be treated to free books and stage shows. Admission is free all weekend to College employees and students presenting a valid MDC ID, free to children 18 and under, $5 for adults 62 and over, and $8 for all other attendees.

For more about Miami Book Fair International, and a list of authors and presentation times, please visit www.miamibookfair.com or download the Fairgoer's Guide.

See you at the Street Fair.
