We Must Be Doing Something Right
As all of you know, we just completed a memorable series of commencement ceremonies, highlighted by an address from the President of the United States. MDC and our students continue to garner acclaim, from the local media to The New York Times.
But the message I am including below is the real highlight, the confirmation of all our efforts:
Dear Dr. Padrόn,
On April 30, 2011, I walked in the Graduation Ceremony. When it was finished, I went with my family to a famous restaurant here in Miami. I went inside the restaurant wearing my cap and medallion. The restaurant was almost full and many people congratulated me. Some were graduates of MDC and others were current students.
When we were finally accommodated at one of the tables, we met four different families from Washington, Texas, New York and Boston. They asked me what school I had graduated from and when I said Miami Dade College, they were amazingly happy and said, 'Wow! That's the best college in the U.S. We always hear good things about MDC.'
I just said, thank you, but inside me, I felt so proud of MDC and myself for my accomplishment. I also realized the truth of MDC’s mission - to change lives through the opportunity of education. I AM MDC and I just want to share my story. Thank you, Dr. Padrόn, for always doing the best for MDC and the students.
This is surely why we do what we do. And hearing it from one of our proud graduates is the ultimate appreciation. I hope you take great pride in reading this and in knowing the difference you’re making in so many lives.
Thank you.
Eduardo
