MDC 2012 United Way Campaign

We each have the power to help transform the world and, at Miami Dade College, we do just that every day by helping students begin their journey to success.  
  
From Sept. 26 – Nov. 11, the Miami Dade College community will again have the opportunity to help other members of our community begin their journey. By supporting the 2012 MDC United Way Campaign, every unrestricted dollar that you invest generates at least $2.04 in additional funds – matching grants, in-kind gifts and volunteer time. Your donation of:

• $10 provides 10 hours of after-school tutoring
• $20 supplies one week of home-delivered meals for an elder
• $50 provides a heart-health screening for an uninsured person
• $250 secures breast-cancer screening for four people
• $1,000 provides 12 months of financial education/counseling 

Our United Way campaign begins Sept. 26, 2011. Members of the MDC United Way Campaign Team, listed at the end of this message, will be announcing special events and asking you to become a part of this important initiative. When a member of the MDC United Way Campaign Team contacts you to ask for a contribution, please donate as generously as you can. You can make your donation by going to www.mdc.edu/unitedway.

Last year, MDC employees and students together raised more than $123,000, which was 3 percent more than our goal of $120,000. I know that with your help, even in these difficult financial times, we can repeat this performance.
