MDC's School for Advanced Studies Again Ranks Among the Nation’s Best
I am pleased to announce that Miami Dade College's School for Advanced Studies (SAS) has once again been named to Newsweek and The Daily Beast's list of America's best high schools. SAS ranked 12th in the nation and was the only school in Miami-Dade County to place in the top 50 nationwide.
Newsweek assessed more than 2,300 schools to produce the final list of the top 1,000 public schools. Rankings were based on factors including four-year, on-time graduation rates; percentage of 2011 graduates accepted to college; total number of college-level examinations (AP/IB/AICE) given per student and average scores; depth of college-level curricula offered; and average SAT and/or ACT score(s).
SAS has been consistently included in the nation's best high schools, as rated by Newsweek and others. Please join me in thanking SAS Principal Omar Monteagudo for his visionary leadership, and congratulating all of SAS's faculty, staff and students on this admirable and well-deserved achievement.
