MDC Welcomes Newest Member of District Board of Trustees

I am very pleased to introduce a new member of the Miami Dade College District Board of Trustees, Armando J. Olivera.

Appointed yesterday by Governor Rick Scott, Trustee Olivera has worked at Florida Power & Light (FPL) company for nearly four decades and has served as chief executive officer and president since 2003. Armando is also a member of the Cornell University Board of Trustees and a member of the Florida Reliability Coordinating Council; he has been a member of the Florida Council of 100 since 2007 and served on the Enterprise Florida Board of Directors from 2004 through 2011. We welcome Trustee Olivera and know that his many years of corporate experience will be a valuable resource to the College.

Welcoming a new member to our Board also means bidding farewell to a very esteemed member. With the expiration of his term, Robert H. Fernandez leaves MDC’s Board, having made innumerable contributions to the College. He will be missed, but will always be a part of the MDC family.

Please join me in thanking Robert for his years of loyal service and welcoming Armando to our District Board of Trustees.

Thank you.

Eduardo
