Miami Dade College is authorized under United States Federal Law, Immigration and Nationality Act, §(101)(a)(15) (F or M) to enroll nonimmigrant alien students. In addition to following the regular admission procedures, international students are required to provide English language placement test scores, such as TOEFL if a non-native speaker, proof of mandatory health insurance coverage, and official bank letter of financial resources to support education costs.
Registration and placement into courses and programs is dependent on English language proficiency, advisement and counseling, assessment/placement testing and course or program requirements.
Academic transcript(s) of secondary school, college, university, technical and other post-secondary schools attended must be certified as official. Transcript(s) in languages other than English must include official certified English translations, authentic verifying statements and signatures.
International applicants should apply at least three months prior to enrollment at the college. International mail, transcript verifications, international money transfers, consular appointments, travel and housing arrangements and advisement/testing requirements all take a great deal of time and may cause delays. Applications for admission, including all admissions credentials and
TOEFL test scores (if available), must be received at least 90 days prior to the start of the term in which the applicant plans to enroll. The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is usually administered several times each year at centers in most countries of the world. Information and application forms for TOEFL may be obtained from international centers, by writing to TOEFL, Box 899, Princeton, NJ 08541, USA, or by visiting their Web site at www.toefl.org.
