System Overview

Miami Dade College Alerts is the College’s emergency notification system. If there is an emergency that threatens life safety on a campus and/or severely impacts normal college operations, college officials will warn the campus communities using one or more of the following methods:

Students & Employees

  • All current students and employees are required to participate. All Miami Dade College issued e-mail addresses (username@mymdc.net or username@mdc.edu) have been downloaded into the Miami Dade College Alerts database.
  • Students receive alerts only between the first and last day they are registered for Miami Dade College classes.
  • Employees receive alerts only while they are employed by the college.
  • Students and employees are able update their emergency notification information for Miami Dade College Alerts at anytime by clicking the appropriate link above. Students and employees need their Miami Dade College user name and password to access these links.
  • Students and employees are required to confirm their emergency notification information for Miami Dade College Alerts at least once a year.

Family Members & Visitors

  • Family members and visitors are able to subscribe to Miami Dade College Alerts by clicking the appropriate link above. A Miami Dade College user name and password is not required to access this link.
  • Subscriptions for family members and visitors are valid for the current academic year only and expire on July 31st of each year.
  • Currently registered family members and visitors are asked every August before the start of the next academic year if they want to continue to receive alerts or if they want to unsubscribe.

Text Messaging

By registering your cell phone number with the college you will receive emergency text messages alerting you of a current or imminent threat. Your cell phone must have text messaging capabilities. Miami Dade College will use this information for emergency communication purposes only. Miami Dade College encourages you to select a unique ring tone on your cell phone for Miami Dade College Alerts messages; which will always be sent from either 69310 or 21953.
