Principal's Message
Dear SAS Parents and Students,
As we embark on yet another school year, I am delighted that you and your parents have decided on School for Advanced Studies to further your high school education and to begin your college education. Now entering its twenty-first year, School for Advanced Studies is a nationally recognized high school of excellence. Recently, SAS was ranked 15th among High Schools in America by Newsweek Magazine due in part to its rigorous course offering and the strength of its academic program.
Our goal is to continue to build on our small learning community concept which allows us to provide individualized instruction to all our students, fosters innovative and collaborative teaching, and builds a nurturing environment without compromising our commitment to providing a rigorous academic curriculum. Throughout the school year you will receive information regarding activities and events through a variety of media.
The success of SAS is predicated on having a strong support base comprised of school officials, parents, students, and community representatives. Your involvement and support of our program is essential to ensuring the consistency of services. Therefore, I invite you to participate in our school by volunteering, participating in our Educational Excellence School Advisory Council (EESAC), or simply providing us with input and feedback to strengthen our overall program. Whatever the level of support you may provide, it will be greatly appreciated.
We look forward to partnering with you and having a dynamic 2010-2011 school year. On behalf of the faculty and staff of School for Advanced Studies, we welcome you and hope your experience at SAS is memorable and highly productive.
Respectfully,
Omar Monteagudo, J.D.
