Principal's Message
Dear SAS Parents and Students,
As we embark on yet another school year, I am delighted that you and your parents have decided on School for Advanced Studies (SAS) to further your high school education and to begin your college education. School for Advanced Studies will celebrate its 25th anniversary during the 2012-2013 school year and is receiving accolades as a nationally recognized high school of excellence. Recently, SAS was ranked 12th in Newsweek Magazine's 2012 list of America's Best High Schools. This is due in part to its rigorous course offering and the strength of its academic program.
Our goal is to continue building on our small learning community concept which provides individualized instruction to all our students, fosters innovative and collaborative teaching, and builds a nurturing environment without compromising our commitment to a rigorous academic curriculum. Throughout the school year you will receive information regarding activities and events through a variety of media.
The success of SAS is predicated on having a strong support base comprised of school officials, parents, students, and communityrepresentatives. Your involvement and support of our program is essential to ensuring the consistency of services. Therefore, I invite you to participate in our school by volunteering, participating in our Educational Excellence School Advisory Council (EESAC), or simply providing us with input and feedback to strengthen our overall program. We will greatly appreciate any level of support you may provide.
We look forward to partnering with you and having a dynamic 2012-2013 school year. On behalf of the faculty and staff of School for Advanced Studies, we welcome you and hope your experience at SAS is memorable and highly productive.
Respectfully,
Omar Monteagudo, J.D.
