A Special Thanksgiving at Lotus House in Overtown

Lotus Meals on Thanksgiving

Miami, November 30, 2015 - SAS Kendall Seniors (in photo from left) Sandra Domenech, Talia Lopez, Nafisa Kabir, and Sumaiya Khandaker undertook a special project on Thanksgiving Day for the Lotus House in the heart of Overtown. They cooked and baked and then delivered 129 meals to the women and children who live at Lotus House on Thanksgiving Day.

Lotus House provides temporary housing for homeless women and children for up to a year as they transition to new homes. They ensure that these families have the sanctuary, support, education and resources they need to get back on their feet.  Nafisa Kabir spearheaded this Thanksgiving Day effort to help the people at Lotus House but the whole group was gratified to see their efforts become a reality in the lives of those in need.
