SAS Senior Awarded Special MDC Scholarship

Miami, May 5, 2014 - School for Advanced Studies (SAS) senior Amanda Brown was recognized by the Vice President of the United States Joe Biden and SAS Homestead Campus President Dr. Jeanne Jacobs at the Miami Dade College (MDC) Homestead graduation ceremony on May 3 as the 2014 MDC Board of Trustees Scholarship winner for MDC Homestead Campus.

Amanda was selected because of her outstanding academic and community service record. Each campus of MDC recognizes one student each year at their various graduation ceremonies to receive this $5,000 scholarship. This was the first time in the history of SAS and MDC that a SAS student was awarded the Trustees Scholarship.

Miami Dade College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award associate and baccalaureate degrees.
