Angela Ortiz Chosen for Special Program at Amherst College

Angela Ortiz

Miami, August 28, 2014 - Angela Ortiz, a senior at School for Advanced Studies, has been chosen as one of only 100 students from around the United States to participate in a weekend immersion program at Amherst College (October 18-20).  The Diversity Open Houses are available to all prospective students, but the selection committee prioritizes the invitation of high achieving students from traditionally under-represented groups, such as African-American, Hispanic/Latino American, Native American, and Asian-American backgrounds, as well as first-generation students.

Students selected to visit Amherst for this special weekend will receive 100% of round-trip transportation costs (airline) and will be hosted on campus by current students. Special programming for this weekend visit includes information sessions with our admission deans, a faculty panel, and opportunities to attend classes and spend time with current Amherst College students, faculty and staff.

Miami Dade College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award associate and baccalaureate degrees.
