Miami, June 11, 2015 - SAS North rising senior Paolo Garcia will be spending the first week of August this summer in Cambridge, Massachusetts at the expense (excepting air travel) of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Paolo has been chosen for a very special program at MIT called MOSTEC (MIT Online Science, Technology and Engineering Community).

Paolo is one of 115 talented high school seniors from across the country who will participate in weekly webinars and weekly cluster meetings online in addition to the August week long conference at MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts. MOSTEC participants take part in hands-on engineering workshops, tour lab and industry facilities, attend a college admissions panel with representatives from various top-tier universities, participate in social events, and meet various professors, researchers, MIT staff and students while in Cambridge in August.

The online portion of the program extends to January of 2016. MOSTEC is supported by a group of positive, enthusiastic role models with experience in science and engineering that serve as a nationwide network of high achieving mentors to the MOSTEC high school seniors.

During the "Project Phase" for a four week period this summer, participants are committed to 25 or more hours per week taking classes in Astrophysics, Combinatorics, Aeronautical/Astronautical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mobile App Development, Neuroscience, and Robotics/Computer Science. At the conclusion of the project courses on August 7, 2015, the time commitment for MOSTEC decreases to 3-5 hours a week until it concludes on January 9, 2016.
