SAS Kendall Junior Becomes an Eagle Scout

Sam Merritt

Miami, May 9, 2016 - Sam Merritt, a junior at SAS Kendall Campus, was named as an Eagle Scout in April. Sam did a major service project at La Ventana De Los Cielos that made a major impact on the facility for children with Cerebral Palsy.

A great deal of planning and coordination culminated on Saturday, January 16 when Sam organized 38 volunteers resulting in almost 200 man hours of work at the facility. The group replaced 30 2" X 6" - 8' planks of wood, built two larege musical instruments, repaired a broken ramp which is used to help children with Cerebral Palsy mount horses, and painted over 150 feet of fencing.

Sam is planning to continue to help La Ventana De Los Cielos by instituting a math tutoring program on a monthly basis with a group of his SAS classmates. Director Nils Kastberg is excited about the tutoring program and is very appreciative of the SAS efforts to help the children at his facility.
