SAS Homestead Senior Inspires at MDCPS School Board April 2016 Meeting

Norberto Orellana

Miami, April 16, 2016 - School Board Member Dr. Larry Feldman invited SAS Homestead senior Norberto Orellana to speak at the MDCPS School Board meeting of Wednesday, April 13, 2016 to represent all of this year's graduating seniors with a message of persistence and hope.

Norberto received a standing ovation from everyone in the school board auditorium after he told about how he had persevered through Cerebral Palsy, multiple painful surgeries and homelessness to become a QuestBridge Scholar.

He will enter Colorado College in the fall where he will pursue his career goal of becoming a childhood orthopedic surgeon. Norberto's message of never giving up in the face of adversity was inspiring to all that were in attendance and watching on the WLRN television broadcast.
