Class of 2017 SAS Rising Junior Chosen for Congress of Future Science and Technology

Miami, June 6, 2015 - Alex Alfonso, a soon to be junior at the School for Advanced Studies (SAS) in Kendall has been chosen to attend the Congress of Future Science and Technology Leaders in Boston, Ma. from June 28 to June 30, 2015.

The congress is an honors-only program for high school students who are passionate about science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). The purpose of this event is to honor, inspire, motivate, and direct the top students in the country to be scientists and technologists.

Alex Alfonso was nominated by American hero and astronaut Buzz Aldrin, Science Director of the National Academy of Future Scientists and Technologists to represent SAS based on his academic achievement, leadership potential, and passion for the subjects.

During the three-day congress, Alex will hear from Nobel Laureates and National Medal of Science winners as they talk about their scientific research and teach the students about cutting edge advances in the field which is changing exponentially. Students such as Alex are also guided and mentored on issues such as college acceptance and finances, skills acquisition, internships, and career guidance.
