Miami, February 5, 2014 - On Saturday January 25, 2014, SAS and AAA participated in the annual District SECME Competition along with many other high schools from Miami-Dade County Public Schools (MDCPS). This is an annual event sponsored by MDCPS and was held at Miami Dade College North Campus this year.

The SAS Kendall Science Team (Frederico Krauss, Vidia Gokool, Devin Cruz, and Ioanna Georgoulakis) placed 1st in the Brain Bowl Competition and the SAS Math Challenge team consisting of Luis Carbonell, Kevin Quijada and Ahmed Salim took 3rd place in Applied Math.

The AAA-South team consisting of Rocio Bermudez, Osvaldo Armas, Namita Khajanchi, and Michael Perez took 4th place in the Science event and the AAA Math Challenge Team comprised of Alejandro Nunez, Alejandra Laverde, Michelle Juarez, and Cassandra Chacon also were strong contenders in their category.

Ms. Mary Seamans and Dr. Gemma Alberto are SECME Coordinators for SAS/AAA and should be congratulated for the outstanding performance of their teams.
