Miami Dade College English professor Geoffrey Philp has published his first children’s book, Marcus and The Amazons. The e-book was quick to catch the attention of the public, becoming an amazon.com “Hot New Release.”

Marcus and The Amazons is the story of two ant colonies—the Formicas and Amazons—that are at war with each other. The Amazons take the Formica Queen-to-be hostage and challenge Marcus, who is her lover, to rescue her from the grasp of their army. Marcus, a pacifist, has to overcome the obstacles set before him and save his beloved princess without succumbing to the pugnacious nature of the Amazons.

Throughout the story, Philp conveys a message of battling oppression.
