Miami Dade College Homestead Campus Student Government Association President Rolanda Schand will attend an Opportunity Leaders and Scholars Program in New York City from Nov 3 through Nov. 5.
Candidates are selected based on their community service work and a life obstacle they persevered through.
Schand is one of the 100 students who was selected to attend this program, out of the 400 that applied. The primary goal of the program is to put the “American Dream” project back into place by having students promote opportunities in their campuses and community.
"Opportunity changes everything," Schand said.
