Miami Dade College Kendall Campus will host a Take Strides for Education 5K Walk/Run on Nov. 19 beginning at 7:30 a.m. and continuing throughout the day.
In an effort to assist students grades 6-12, who dream of being able to attend college, but due to financial reasons cannot, Take Stock in Children, in partnership with Miami Dade College, Miami Dade County Public Schools and others, is raising funds to provide scholarships, mentors and hope as college tuition and related expenses rise.
Each child who successfully fulfills the requirements of the program, such as remaining alcohol free and maintaining a 2.5 GPA, will receive a fully paid scholarship for college.
The walk is an open event and will be featuring activities and giveaways. Registration to participate in the 5K is $35 per person; however, students will receive free registration by registering online and typing in the promotion code "graduate".
