By Kimberly Cabrera
Kimberly.cabrera002@mymdc.net

The website, www.get2MDC.com, promotes green ways of commuting by transit, carpooling, biking or walking to school for rewards and prizes.

The initiative is a partnership between Miami Dade College and South Florida Commuter Services, a subsidiary of the Florida Department of Transportation, to increase the number of students and faculty that carpool.

Get2MDC.com offer students a variety of benefits including 50 percent off monthly transit passes at campus bookstores for full-time students. The website promotes GREEN by informing students on ways they can protect the environment while also saving money through biking or walking.

The website also has a household carbon footprint calculator, which can help estimate a family’s greenhouse gas emissions and suggest ways that can reduce emissions.
