Sandra Canella, executive pastry chef and head baker at the Miami Culinary Institute, is competing at the American Culinary Federation's Southeast Regional Conference in Charleston, South Carolina April 26 through the 28th. The competition is based on the skills of various masters chefs like Canella.  The winner of the regional competition will receive $5,000. The winner of the national competition will receive $50,000.  “My 20 years of experience and the long hours have paid off,” said Canella regarding what this competition means to her. Despite being the head baker at MCI, Canella has been working for 20 years in the field of pastry and bakery.  She currently shares her culinary skills with the students in a baking and pastry class.
