Cletus KyaatuurMy name is Cletus Kyaatuur, and I am 24 years old and am born to a family of 14. I am from Ghana (in the Upper West Region of West Africa (WA), where I stayed in my region (WA) until I finished high school in 2008. My results in high school as a business student were so excellent because of determination and perseverance. The nature of my result gave me the opportunity to gain admission into the Bolgatanga Polytechnic Institute (in the Upper East Region of Ghana) in August 2009 to pursue a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting. As such, I had the best results from the accounting class for the first three semesters and fortunately on my part this scholarship came for brilliant students. I was selected among 44 students in my school for interview by the US department of states. Six of us were selected after the interview to take part in the next process thus; TOEFL (Test of English as a foreign Language). Base on result, four of us were finally selected for the program and I was so amazed to go through all the tedious process without failure. All is by determination and perseverance and that is why I believed in the saying that "You reap what you sow". I had the opportunity to do internships in Ghana as well as hold certain leadership positions (mostly financial secretary) in some organizations in high school and college. In the United States of America, I am grateful to be the Treasurer for Phi Beta Lambda at Miami Dade College (Wolfson campus). Finally, I want to say I am so glad and proud to have the opportunity to come to America base on my personal and academic efforts. |
